Halloween 2014

Well, hello there November! Can I just say that I am so excited for these cooler Texas temps. At Savannah's game yesterday everyone was bundled up like it was freezing. It was a beautiful sixty degrees out. I was loving it.

Rewinding all the way to Friday…

We were busy. Sav's class had a Pajama Day party that included musical chairs, a pumpkin decorating contest and cookie decorating. She had a blast. After running some errands we came home to relax before getting dressed for the night time festivities.

We were two black cats. Fun and simple. I found her black tutu brand new on eBay for seven bucks with shipping! Her ears and tail were found at WalMart. I got my ears from Old Navy.

You can't really tell in the pics but my mini dress has a ruffle tutu like bottom. We wore matching shoes to complete our looks. (hers- H&M, mine- Coach) My husband painted our faces.

I found out about a block party that was happening on our base. We headed there for the festivities. It was the perfect way to spend the evening. After an hour both of them were tired and ready to go to bed.

Little Mike was a lion. He wore Sav's old costume. He was super cute but was not feeling it. This is one of the only happy pics I have of him dressed. Love his cute little face.

Now that October is over I am all about Thanksgiving! Y'all know it's my favorite holiday! I'll be sharing Thanksgiving recipes and tips all throughout the month.

Weekend Recap

This Saturday was the last regular season soccer game of the season. Next week we have a makeup game followed by a team party. When I get my Saturdays back I won't know how to act. Her game this past Saturday was at eight AM. The light is so beautiful that early in the morning...

After soccer we normally go to the playground for a bit. Little Mike tries to do everything he sees Sav doing. It's so funny. He's finally figured out what he likes at the playground. So far his favorite thing to do is the swings. Savannah loves the slides.

This weekend I also had the pleasure of decorating a pumpkin for a pumpkin contest that Savannah's class had. I thought we were doing something by glittering our pumpkin. Nope. When I picked her up today those pumpkins were HGTV worthy. If they're still on display tomorrow I will snap a pic for IG. I couldn't believe it. I'm still proud of our pumpkin.

Initially she wanted to make her pumpkin look like Saturn. After seeing all those pumpkins today I wish we had done that…

Friday was a busy day for me. I have recently fallen in love with midi dresses and skirts. I really love the floral print on this one. I paired it with my Coach sneakers for a laid back and comfortable look.

Thought Bubbles...

I'm sitting here watching Scandal. This show has got to be one of the best things TV has done for me in a while… Where is Cyrus' little black baby they adopted last season? Baby Ella got laid down in her crib on one episode and I ain't seen her since…

There are Christmas presents that need wrapping. I've gotten behind on them. I'm not a good wrapper so I need to get on that. Like yesterday…

Tomorrow I'm not doing anything other than feed these kids and hang out around this house. Maybe I'll do a load of laundry. Maybe…

My posts are now aligned to the left. Today it's the margin, tomorrow it's the world…

I will not exhaust myself trying to turn this blog into a business. Started as a hobby and we still here…

Savannah will be in an upcoming video honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. I can't wait to see it...

I would also like to add that she did very well listening to everyone on set. We took her for a smoothie afterwards for doing a great job…
It has been pretty fun putting outfits together for my trip but now I understand why people have stylists…
I have cut back on the amount of Dr.Pepper I consume. I can already tell a difference in my skin and tummy…
I'll be glad when this "fun food" season is over…
Very excited about switching up my hair soon…
This isn't shocking to my regular readers at all but I'm now watching Andy Cohen…
I really wanted Face to Face Fridays to happen. It didn't…
Look at my big boy sitting up at Sav's class this morning. He's doing so much these days...

Is anyone watching Rihanna's Styled to Rock?…

I can hear Savannah coughing in her sleep. I hate what Texas has done to her. Never even had a cold until we moved here…
Did I mention how excited I am about lounging tomorrow…
Oh. And Bey just dropped an album. And it's fire…

UPDATE: Loving Bey's album and all the catchy lyrics…

Video Diary 11222013 Featuring The Husband

I thought it would be fun to do one of the husband tag videos. We actually filmed one a few weeks ago but something happened with the audio. Our video and audio wasn't in sync so I had to find new questions and try it again. I hope you all enjoy this video. I'm pretty sure my husband really wanted to be watching football. He seemed really sad when he found out I couldn't fix the first one that we did, LOL! Anyway, here it is. And of course, the babies make cameo appearances…

And apparently my husband feels that I need to answer twenty questions (which just reminded me of that 50 Cent song) so I guess we'll be filming another one with me in the hot seat.

Do you have any questions you'd like to see me answer?

Trunk or Treat 2013

Like most kids, Savannah enjoys Yo Gabba Gabba. The first time we watched it I thought it was a little weird. She seemed to really enjoy the songs and dancing with them so the show slowly grew on me. So. This year I thought it would be fun if we all dressed up as Yo Gabba Gabba characters.

Savannah was the cutest little Foofa and my husband made DJ Lance look good! He was a big hit with all the kids at the Trunk or Treat this year.

How cute were they?

If you aren't familiar with the show I was Plex the robot.

Yo Gabba Gabba Halloween costume family

Baby M was in the stroller sleeping during the photo session. He woke up once Savannah and I started making the rounds. Savannah's BFF and her Mom joined us and the girls had a blast! I didn't get permission to post her BFF here but she was the CUTEST little dragonfly!

And here is Baby M once we were back at home. I couldn't find a Yo Gabba Gabba costume in an infant size. I looked every where online and didn't have any luck. I was able to find him a Yo Gabba Gabba shirt from The Children's Place so he still fit the theme!

We had tons of fun. This is such a great alternative to trick or treating. My husband was a volunteer for the trunk or treat through the Audie Murphy club. Savannah has other parties to attend all next week so I'll be getting all the bang for my buck with her costume.

Fall Family Photos 2013

As promised here are some of the images from our Fall family photo shoot. I am in love with these pictures. If you are in the San Antonio area and need a good family photographer I highly recommend Crystal Claire Photography. She is great with kids and I really feel like we got a lot for our money.

I love that Baby M was yawning and checking out the sites! As Kevin Hart would say, "We look good as a unit!" LOL!

And one with my love...

And one of the littles...

There were so many great shots from our session. Pretty sure that file has been open on our computer since we got our pictures back. I had the hardest time trying to find something for all of us to wear. I'm really happy with the outcome. How often does your family have pictures made?

The San Antonio Zoo

Yesterday we had a family date at the zoo. I had heard great things about the San Antonio Zoo and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. The zoo had ample parking and they offered a military discount.  Children two and under are free so our little morning out only costs twenty bucks. Yes!

I packed frozen bottle water and juice boxes in my bag along with some fruit. When Savannah got hungry or thirsty I reached into my bag of goodies. This kept us from being tempted by all the concession stands and restaurants. I'm always looking for ways to save money or make outings as enjoyable as possible for less money. We ended up going to lunch at Chick Fil-A after the zoo. I got the new Asian salad and it was amazing. You have to try it if you haven't already.

Here are some pics from our visit. Overall, I was pleased with the San Antonio Zoo. Since we were there so early some of the animals were asleep but since Sav was still happy their being asleep didn't bother me. I'm always torn about the zoo. Apart of me likes taking her to see the animals but then another part of me always feels bad for the animals. Has anyone else ever noticed how sad animals look at the zoo sometimes?

aren't they twins?

Oh. And apparently when you go to the zoo as pregnant as I am you get lots of stares. People crack me up.

30 Things: Describe Your Relationship with Your Spouse

Our relationship. My relationship with my husband is very easy. We are friends and we genuinely enjoy each other's company. I think that's very important. We met when I was still in high school. I visited our college (East Carolina University) for minority weekend. It was a very pretty day and I was soaking in the campus and all that college life was going to give me come Fall. My family had already gone back to Charlotte. I stayed behind with my BFF's family to continue hanging out. We decided to visit the bookstore on campus and that is where I met my husband.

Although, I never saw him coming and he kind of popped up out of nowhere that's where we crossed paths for the first time. He had a very confident way about him that I liked. We exchanged email addresses (because that's what people did in 2002 I guess) and our relationship grew from there. Now. Our dating experience in college was very crazy. At times it was nothing like the fairy tales you hear about on TLC's Say Yes to the Dress. But it's our story and I love it. Not to mention it gives us lots to laugh at these days. And we laugh a lot. Another good thing about my relationship with my husband.

our first date

My relationship with my husband has quite possibly been one of the most freeing experiences of my life. I've never had to pretend to be someone that I wasn't. I can always say exactly what I'm thinking or feeling. It's refreshing. In so many other relationships that I have I watch what I say or do. There are limits to what I share and I listen more than I speak. Not with my husband. He listens to me and I listen to him. He humbles me and I keep his confidence from turning into arrogance.

when he met my family for the first time. it was a surprise visit during a break at school.

During my senior year of college, during my winter break, we got married. My husband had already graduated college and was beginning his career in the Army. Our wedding day was very simple and filled with love. I remember not being nervous about anything. I was positive that even at the age of twenty-one I knew I was making the right decision. We were crazy about each other and we still are. I think that's what keeps us going. There's no one else that I would rather hang out with for the rest of my life. He is one of the smartest and funniest people that I know. I'm so thankful for our love. Deep down I really feel like it was our relationship that turned me into a braver version of myself. I am stronger and I get offended a lot less. My husband gives me a womanly confidence that I appreciate more than he'll ever know. Our relationship is by far my favorite thing about this life I am so blessed to live.

Maternity Style: My Nicole Richie Moment

While I was doing a little pinning on Pinterest I noticed that a pin of mine had been re-pinned that featured Nicole Richie's maternity style. I don't even remember pinning it but it's a cute outfit. Then I realized that I wore something very similar to her look just last weekend.

We attended a birthday party for our little cousin. I wasn't sure what to wear but I wanted to be comfortable and cute. Since it was pretty warm that day (and because it was a family) event I didn't over do it on my makeup and my hair was in a ponytail. Other than that I may have hit Nicole's outfit almost dead on. What do you think?

Christmas at the Riverwalk

We had a great time taking Savannah to see the lights. She squealed and clapped the whole time. It was beautiful. If you're ever in San Antonio during the holiday season you must check out the Christmas lights on the Riverwalk. It was actually a little chilly when we went and that added to the already perfect setting. There was a mariachi band playing Christmas music. It was absolutely perfect. Here are a couple pics from our night out.

Stylish Saturday: Dance Recital

I just wanted to share the blouse that I wore to Sav's recital. I am in love with it. It's a silk top I found a year ago at White House Black Market. It was on the clearance rack and I couldn't pass it up. It was my first time wearing it and I paired it with jeans. I originally bought it to go with my tuxedo pants but those were fitting a bit snug tonight so I did jeans instead.

Stylish Saturday: Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day everyone! We spent the morning in downtown San Antonio at the Veteran's Day parade. My soldier walked in the parade along with the other Sgt. Audie Murphy Club members. It was a beautiful windy morning and I was very excited about taking Sav to her first parade.

Once we got there I learned that they wanted the families to walk with him. I was cool with that but I felt bad because I wasn't dressed in red, white and blue. My plan was to stand on the side and take it all in. Apparently, I was the only wife with that plan because everyone else had on colors from old glory. Ah well. We'll get'em next year. Here are some self portraits of my outfit and a couple from the parade.
