Mother's Day 2016

mother's day 2016

Today is one of the only days of the year that I take full advantage of it being a day for me. I normally rest on Mother's Day. My husband takes over and plans everything and takes care of everyone. That's really the only gift I ever ask for.

If you follow me on snapchat then you know that earlier this week the kids spilled lemonade on my computer. Totally destroying it. My heart was a little broken. None of the pics or videos on the computer could be saved and the repair cost was so high that I decided to pass on getting it fixed.

When my family presented me with a new computer - complete with song, flowers and cards - I felt so extremely thankful. I would have never asked for it but they said they knew how much I enjoyed "doing my computer stuff" and wanted me to have another computer. All the feels....

New computers are nice but what I always love more than anything (besides the rest) is receiving handmade gifts from the kids. Savannah's gift this year had the most perfect poem on it...

When I think about Mother's Day and celebrating the day I think about my Mom. She is such a great example of the type of woman and mother I want to be. If I can be half as good of a Mom as she's been to me I just might do alright. I talk to my Mom just about everyday. Sometimes we talk several times a day. I keep pictures of my Mom and me in Savannah's room. I hope Savannah and I will be as close as my Mom and I are...

I'm looking forward to spending the day in bed watching tv, resting and eating at one of my favorite places here in San Antonio. Being a Mom is a full time job. I hope you all spend the day doing exactly what you want. Remember that you are enough just the way you are. No one is doing it all and we have to give ourselves a little grace and time to recharge every now and then.

Motherhood can be tough. Don't beat yourself up about the little things. Remember that the things that get on your nerves will soon be a distant memory as these little people grow up. Cherish this time because it will surely pass way too soon.

Happy Mother's Day, Mamas!

You deserve all the love and appreciation - take it!

My Mother is one of the best women I know. She is my best friend and my role model for motherhood. When I think of the type of Mother I want to be it looks a lot like my Mom. My Mom is smart, funny and kind. She has been my biggest teacher of unconditional love.

I enjoy learning from and laughing with her. She has always done so much for my brothers and I so this year I want to give something back to her. My Mother is thoughtful. For my very first Thanksgiving as a married woman she made me a cookbook full of all of our family's recipes. I think it's time that I put a little something special together for her so that she knows how much I love her.

After all, she is where I got my awesomeness from so it is only right that I celebrate that!

My Mom enjoys reading and writing so I thought it would be a great idea to put together a box full of some of the things she enjoys. While in WalMart doing a little shopping I came across the One Stop Shop by American Greetings.

I love sending cards in the mail. My Mom saves them all so I always make sure to take my time and read through them until I find one that speaks to how I feel about her. My favorite cards are the ones with bookmarks on them. Not only will she enjoy the card but she can use the bookmark. She'll think about me every time she saves her spot in a book.

I really want to make her gift special. Finding a journal was super important to me. After doing some scanning at the One Stop Shop I found the perfect journal for my Mom.

To complete her box I'll include pictures of the kids (because what Grandma doesn't love that?!), special crafts done by my babies and of course a beautiful Mother's Day card.

The journal is my absolute favorite part of her gift this year. There are different sections in the journal that I know she'll appreciate. I'll use the tissue paper to wrap her journal and stuff the box.

Savannah made a flower pot magnet to send in the box. I hope this gift touches my Mom the way all of her love has touched us over the years. I also have a stepmom and a mother-in-law that I needed to grab cards for and I was able to grab some things for them too. I love it when I'm able to get everything I need in one store visit. I know they'll enjoy receiving their gifts as well.
