Happy MLK 2016

Every year for MLK I share a craft or this video that Savannah was blessed to be apart of. I hope everyone is enjoying time with their families as we reflect on the Dr. King's dream for our country.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Video Tribute

Last year you might remember I shared a MLK tribute video that Savannah had the opportunity to be a part of. Tomorrow I'll share a MLK craft idea that we have made a family tradition. Enjoy the video!

Happy MLK Day

If you follow me on Instagram you might remember me sharing a pic of Savannah on set in front of a green screen. She was participating in a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the 264th Medical Battalion. I am sharing the video below. It came out great. Enjoy!

Preschool at Home: Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.

We are half way thru with January. Can't believe it. Savannah and I have been working really hard on sight words and reading. We live in walking distance to the library and we go there often to check out books or rent Wii games.

For this particular trip I wanted to focus on finding books that talked about Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr. Our library had a few books to choose from and we chose the three below. I have enjoyed reading these to her and introducing to her some of the facts about our nation's history.

Since we had been reading so much about MLK's vision I thought it would be fun to help Savannah make a vision board, but on a smaller Pre-K level. I started by getting some of her painting paper and my letter stencils.

Then I just asked her what her dreams were. I wrote them down in the color of her choice. As you can see, this activity had very little to do with her learning to write or cut. This activity was all about teaching her to recognize her dreams.

I thought she came up with some pretty good dreams for a three year old. I asked her simple questions like, "If you could learn anything what would it be? and " What do you want to be when you grow up?". I think it will be fun to do this with her every year at this same time and save them. When BabyM is old enough he'll do it too.

I plan to stencil her name at the bottom between the stars. I wanted to get this post up before it got too late. So. What do you think? How will you observe MLK Day with your little one? I know someone is out there thinking that this maybe too much for a three year old. So. I'll share something with you that I told a friend earlier today…

Thought Bubbles...

I'm sitting here watching Scandal. This show has got to be one of the best things TV has done for me in a while… Where is Cyrus' little black baby they adopted last season? Baby Ella got laid down in her crib on one episode and I ain't seen her since…

There are Christmas presents that need wrapping. I've gotten behind on them. I'm not a good wrapper so I need to get on that. Like yesterday…

Tomorrow I'm not doing anything other than feed these kids and hang out around this house. Maybe I'll do a load of laundry. Maybe…

My posts are now aligned to the left. Today it's the margin, tomorrow it's the world…

I will not exhaust myself trying to turn this blog into a business. Started as a hobby and we still here…

Savannah will be in an upcoming video honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. I can't wait to see it...

I would also like to add that she did very well listening to everyone on set. We took her for a smoothie afterwards for doing a great job…
It has been pretty fun putting outfits together for my trip but now I understand why people have stylists…
I have cut back on the amount of Dr.Pepper I consume. I can already tell a difference in my skin and tummy…
I'll be glad when this "fun food" season is over…
Very excited about switching up my hair soon…
This isn't shocking to my regular readers at all but I'm now watching Andy Cohen…
I really wanted Face to Face Fridays to happen. It didn't…
Look at my big boy sitting up at Sav's class this morning. He's doing so much these days...

Is anyone watching Rihanna's Styled to Rock?…

I can hear Savannah coughing in her sleep. I hate what Texas has done to her. Never even had a cold until we moved here…
Did I mention how excited I am about lounging tomorrow…
Oh. And Bey just dropped an album. And it's fire…

UPDATE: Loving Bey's album and all the catchy lyrics…
