Moses is ONE!

Moses turned one over the weekend! Can you believe how fast time has gone by? I feel like I just had him. My little #grandfinalebaby is doing so well. I actually have to remind myself of his birth story sometimes.

We had a very low-key celebration for his birthday. If you follow the Facebook page you know that my kids had a vomiting spell. That spell morphed into some virus that hit us all. By the time I caught it I'm pretty sure it was the flu. 

After what seemed like the longest two weeks of my life our family is finally symptom free. Moses and I still have little coughing spells here and there but for the most part we are all doing so much better.

Due to the sickness being passed around and the lack of energy that went along with it we celebrated his birthday with homemade (from the box) cupcakes. All of the kids seemed happy with that. I am almost convinced that much of the pomp and circumstance of a kid's birthday has more to do with the parent than the kid.

I'm picking up on the fact that they are just as happy with these little at home family parties.

I'll still throw birthday parties though. Cause Mom guilt won't let me be that laid back and chill. 

Back to Moses - these days he's a dancing machine. His personality is so sweet and funny. He says Mama and Dada and he's very vocal with his baby talk. He can stand but he isn't walking just yet. Moses enjoys playing with his siblings and dragging all the tupperware out of the cabinets.

He's a good eater and sleeper. His top teeth are coming in and that's causing him some discomfort right now but other than that he's doing well.

He'll see his hematologist again during his 12 month well baby check up. If all of his blood work comes back okay they won't need to see him again for another year or so. 

I am so thankful for his good health and our health as a family. 

Teething Kept Me Up All Night...

How cute is Moses?! I mean, just take his cuteness in for a bit. I do it all day. He ceases to be this cute at 2am when I want to sleep. Just keeping it all the way real around here...

Last night Moses fell asleep at his regular time but woke up about an hour later and he never went back to sleep. I was sitting there as the hours passed thinking, "This can't be life right now..." What happened to my baby that slept all night long? I need him to come back as soon possible.

Mikey and Savannah never struggled with teething. I honestly don't remember Savannah teething and because of that I think it's safe to say she handled it fine. Mikey started teething at around four months and he had lots of teeth before he even started walking. Nursing him was interesting...

Now we have sweet baby Moses who seems to need a bit of help. Well, I'm not sure if he really needs it but I need him to sleep so we will be trying some different teething aids to soothe his sore little mouth.

I will admit that the only thing I researched before heading to the store was baby teething ointment and the amber necklaces. I have decided that while I am too much of a nervous wreck for the necklace I am totally comfortable with anything over the counter.

So I basically went into the store and threw everything teething related in my cart. I know, I know... judge if you must. These are unchartered waters for me and I just need to find something that works.

So here is what we'll be trying...

Moses 6 Month Update

Moses is six months old now. Six months. I can not believe it. He's a funny little guy. His smile lights up a room. Moses has recently been introduced to baby cereal, veggie, fruit and meat purees. His love for anything on a spoon is too real. I can only imagine what my grocery bill will look like in a few years.

These days Moses enjoys wiggling and watching his toes. He babbles and laughs. Within the past couple weeks he's been doing better and better with learning to sit up. When he's propped up he does fine but without a prop he's a rollie pollie.

It's so hard for me to believe that this is the same baby that was in the NICU. Sometimes I forget that he was there. It's not until he goes in for his monthly blood draw that I am reminded of his NICU stay and premature birth.

Moses has neutropenia. You can read more about what that is here. He sees a hematologist every month and he is monitored closely. We are praying that his neutropenia resolves itself like the other issues he had at birth.

Other than that, he's doing great! Today he weighed in at 14 pounds. His birth weight was three pounds. He's growing up so fast. Time please so down.
