Thought Bubbles...

I have become increasingly obsessed with the Organic Italian Soda at HEB. Peach Bellini is my favorite. It's been sold out for the past couple weeks…

On another HEB note, they finally got dual seating shopping carts. I was so "turnt up" when I saw them yesterday…

I have always hated the expression "turnt up" but that seemed to be the only way to describe how happy I was yesterday…

I bought a bag of ice at the checkout. Sav was talking to me about something and I forgot to grab my bag of ice. So HEB just got $1.88 from me for free…

I got Sav a bike horn from the one dollar bin at Target. It's loud. I am currently suffering from buyer's remorse…

Last week I started running on the treadmill instead of the elliptical. You can not tell me I'm not a full fledge runner now, LOL! I am loving the way running makes me feel…

Speaking of running…I won a BOB Revolution FLEX stroller and a free month of Stroller Strides classes on Twitter!! Best. Twitter. Chat. Ever….

This morning I learned of Dr. Maya Angelou's passing. I remember reciting Phenomenal Woman for a 7th grade project. Her teachings will live on forever. May she rest in peace with our Father in Heaven…

BabyM is has been standing and cruising for a while. He's just like his sister, in no rush to actually start walking…

I can not believe he'll be one next month…

I am slowly starting to get my blogging fire back. In my time away I have been working on an Ebook, teaching Sav all kinds of things and working out as much as possible…

Random thoughts? Leave them in the comments. Until next time...

Preschool at Home: Learning to Read at Home

I have decided that our main learning objective for the summer will be reading and handwriting. As you know I am constantly trying different things to find the right fit for Savannah and I. I also use all this research to form a blueprint for BabyM's learning path too. Of course, different kids respond to different things but at least by the time he is ready to learn to read I'll have a better road map for teaching him.

While doing a search on Amazon I came across this book, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. The title alone peaked my interest. The promise states that all you need is twenty minutes a day everyday for 100 days and you and your child should have a nice foundation for reading. That seemed right up my alley. I can do twenty minutes everyday.

This book has been amazing. Not only does it teach your child how to sound out words but it also focuses on reading comprehension and handwriting. I did things kind of backwards with Sav. I taught her the alphabet and each letter's phonetic sound then I taught her sight words. I wish I had found this book before we did sight words. It hasn't really hurt her but I see now where it would have been better to use this book to teach her how to take the phonetic sounds she knew and turn them into words with these lessons.

Hopefully I am saying this all clearly, LOL…

Anyway. I highly recommend this book if you are a parent that needs a road map. The book tells you exactly what to say to your child. It doesn't get much easier than that. It is such a joy to see Sav sounding out words and actually reading. We are only about a quarter of the way through the book and I am really pleased with her progress so far. After her lesson we sit and read a book together. She reads to me and I help her when she asks me to.

Has anyone else heard of this book? Have you used it? What did you think about it?

*I am not a teacher. I am not in the education industry. I'm just a Mom teaching my child at home. I did NOT get paid for this review. I purchased the book myself.*

H-E-B Baby Diapers

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of H-E-B Baby Diapers.
Some women do not like grocery shopping. I am not one of those women. I look forward to it. Maybe that's because I get to shop at HEB. Y'all know I'm an East Coast girl so I'm use to having lots of different grocery stores to choose from. When we first arrived in Texas I was a little taken aback that there is only one main grocery store franchise.
The lack of choices doesn't bother me one bit because HEB is everything. When I mean to tell you I get excited to go grocery shopping I'm not lying! Everything from their seafood to their wine selection is amazing. Their baked goods and assortment of fresh produce and cheeses is to die for. My new love affair with them has gotten so real….
Especially when I discovered their diapers. HEB Baby Diapers are my son's bottom's new BFF. I love them because the quality is great. The fit is really great and the diapers are super soft. They have a 12 hour leakage protection which helps out a lot when BabyM has long stretches of sleep.

BabyM and I are so in love. I love it when I find a baby product that gives me bang for my buck. While shopping the other day (because I'm in HEB like two times a week LOL) we were picking up diapers and I noticed a familiar face on one of the boxes. Sav's friend is on the top box in the pic below?! Isn't she a cutie?! I texted her Mom right away with excitement when I saw her "box".

Just another reason to love these diapers and HEB….
Are you in love with grocery shopping as much as I am? Have you tried HEB Baby Diapers? Let me know your thoughts in comments!
